Professor Md. Harunor Rashid Khan is the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Khulna University and a distinguished physicist with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. He obtained his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. in Physics from Jahangirnagar University in 1989 and 1991, respectively. He began his academic career in 1992 as a Lecturer at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology and joined Khulna University in 1994.

Under the Japanese Government (Monbusho) Scholarship, he pursued his doctoral studies in High Energy Physics at Saga University in collaboration with High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), Japan, earning his PhD in 1996. He subsequently served Khulna University in various academic positions and was promoted to Professor in 2006. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Tokyo Institute of Technology and KEK (2003–2005) under the JSPS fellowship program and later worked as an Invited Fellow at Saga University in 2007. He also served as a Professor at King Saud University from 2016 to 2021.

Professor Khan has long been associated with the internationally renowned Belle Collaboration and was an active collaborator from 1996 to 2008. He was also a Regular Associate of the ICTP, Italy (2003–2010). His research interests include High Energy Physics, Radiation & Health Physics, and Medical Physics.

He has published over 130 research articles in reputed international journals, secured multiple national and international research grants, and participated in more than 50 international conferences and workshops. He has supervised 10 PhD and over 30 postgraduate students and is currently supervising several doctoral and master’s researchers. He is consistently ranked among the top scientists of Khulna University and among the leading scientists in Bangladesh based on international indices.
