Abstract
Synthesis of Europium (Eu) substituted Co-Zn ferrite with chemical formula Co0.5Zn0.5Fe2-xEuxO4 (where x=0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, 0.10) have been prepared by the standard solid state reaction method and the samples were sintered at 10500C for 3 hours. The significant effects of Eu doped on the structural, electrical and magnetic properties have been investigated. The phase identification has been evaluated by using X-ray diffraction technique (XRD). From XRD peaks it is decide that all the samples are in simple cubic spinel structure. Lattice parameter slightly decreased for lower concentration of Eu and then increased with the more addition of Eu content. After adding Eu content the lattice parameter as well as X-ray density increased. Initially the porosity decreased with the increasing of Eu content which may be on account of the increasing homogeneity. The substitution of Eu strongly influenced the magnetic characteristics which are confirmed from the magnetization measurements by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) technique at room temperature. The magnetic hysteresis curves are measured at room temperature exhibited ferromagnetic behavior with maximum saturation magnetization (Ms) of 67.07 emu/gm and coercivity (Hc) of 1.20 Oe. The dielectric constant decreases continuously with the increasing frequency has been observed. A significant increases in dielectric constant associated with the Eu substitution is also noticed and reaches a maximum value for the initial substitution of Eu content. The resistivity as well as loss factor also decreases with the increasing frequency i.e., decreasing polarization.
