Abdullah Al-Mamun is an Assistant Professor of Physics at Khulna University, Bangladesh, and a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Physics, University of Wollongong, Australia. He obtained his Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Physics with distinction and his Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Physics from Khulna University, Bangladesh. He has more than eight years of university-level teaching experience, having served as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor in the Physics Discipline at Khulna University, as well as at several other universities in Bangladesh.
His research interests focus on theoretical condensed matter physics and applied quantum mechanics, particularly exploring thermionic transport and spin–orbit coupling effects in topological and two-dimensional materials. His recent works include studies on thermionic phenomena in topological materials and spin–orbit coupling–enhanced thermionic cooling in two-dimensional semiconductor systems, published in leading international journals such as Advanced Materials, Applied Physics Letters, and Applied Physics Reviews.
He has authored or co-authored 14 peer-reviewed publications, including 4 first-author papers, with a total citation count exceeding 650 and an h-index of 11 (Google Scholar, November 2025).
Mr. Al-Mamun has received several prestigious awards, including the Australian Research Council Top-Up Scholarship (DP210101436), University Postgraduate Award (UPA), and International Postgraduate Tuition Award (IPTA) from the University of Wollongong. He is also a Life Member of the Bangladesh Physical Society and a Member of the Australian Institute of Physics.
In addition to his academic and research pursuits, he has contributed to university administration as an Assistant Provost at Khulna University and actively participates in mentoring, leadership, and outreach programs. His technical expertise spans Python, MATLAB, Fortran, and C programming, as well as competent Quantum ESPRESSO, and molecular dynamics.
