Dr. Md. Ahasan
Habib is a physicist specializing in Condensed Matter Physics, with research
interests spanning spintronics, organic and molecular spintronics, spin
photovoltaics, ultrafast magnetization dynamics, and spin-dependent phenomena
in hybrid molecular materials. His research integrates advanced experimental
techniques with fundamental materials physics to explore next-generation
spin-based electronic, photonic, and information technologies.
He received his
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, in
January 2024, following doctoral research undertaken between October 2019 and
October 2023 under the supervision of Professor Dr. Oscar Céspedes in the
Condensed Matter Group, School of Physics and Astronomy. His doctoral research
focused on understanding spin-dependent interfacial phenomena and magneto-optic
processes in C60 molecular–metal oxide heterostructures, contributing
to the development of novel approaches for ultrafast information storage and
spin photovoltaic devices.
Prior to his
doctoral studies, Dr. Habib earned both his Bachelor of Science (Honours) and
Master of Science degrees in Physics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
His academic training provided a strong foundation in condensed matter physics,
electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, and materials science, which continues to
inform his interdisciplinary research.
Dr. Habib has
served as a Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor in the
Physics Discipline at Khulna University since 2015, where he teaches
undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervises student research, and
actively contributes to curriculum development and academic administration.
Before joining Khulna University, he served as a Lecturer in Physics under the
29th Bangladesh Civil Service (General Education Cadre) from
2011 to 2015, teaching at Govt. Rajendra College, Faridpur, and Nilphamari
Govt. College, Nilphamari.
His research seeks
to advance the fundamental understanding of spin-dependent transport,
interfacial magnetism, and photo-induced spin phenomena in molecular and hybrid
materials, with the broader objective of enabling low-power, high-speed
spintronic and optoelectronic devices for future information and energy
technologies. His work combines experimental and theoretical condensed matter
physics with interdisciplinary collaborations across materials science,
nanotechnology, and device engineering.
Dr. Habib has
presented his research at leading national and international conferences and continues to
pursue collaborative research in emerging areas of condensed matter physics.
His academic interests include spintronics, molecular magnetism, ultrafast
optical spectroscopy, magnetic thin films, functional nanomaterials, and
advanced characterization techniques. Through his research, teaching, and
mentorship, he is committed to advancing scientific excellence, innovation, and
the development of future generations of physicists.
