GPS Accuracy by Smartphones GPS Sensors: Data Analysis Work

The global positioning system (GPS) is a network of satellites and receiving devices used for map-making and land surveying and has become a vital global utility, which is indispensable for modern navigation on land, sea, and air. Positions determined from GPS satellite signals produce accuracies in the range of 50 to 100 meters. Using different errors correction technique, users can get accurate positions up to 5 meters or less. We use Smartphones’ GPS sensor since now a day’s mobile device becomes a great GPS receiver which is very available to all. Smartphones integrated GPS sensor and to the easy development environment makes it more reliable. For this work, more than 1200 data are collected from 93 different countries over the world and also data are collected from different places of Dhaka and Khulna in Bangladesh. A comparison has done here between the above collected data. The analysis shows that the average error is always minimum for 2-3 floor building and after that the average error is gradually increasing with the increase of building floor. The Maximum and minimum errors are also analyzed under open and obstruct sky and compare the error between the north and south hemisphere.
