Rice fulfills the needs of the three main meals of the
people of Bangladesh, and other countries and nations consume rice as well as
the staple food. This cereal is widely cultivated in the South Asian region. At
present, this grain is exported from Bangladesh to other countries. That is why
rice plays an important role in the economy of our country. But every year,
this process is disrupted by many causes. Rice leaf diseases is one of them.
Large amounts of paddy are wasted every year, leaving the farmers in distress
and food shortages looming. This problem is increasing day by day due to the
non-diagnosis of the disease at the appropriate time. The main reason for this
is due to the fact that rice leaf diseases are not recognized by sight and due
to not applying fertilizers and pesticides on time. But to overcome this
problem, we have introduced a digital image processing using wavelet and deep
learning in this study. Our approach can detect an affected leaf by inputting
it into the system in a short time. In our study, preprocessing is done by
testing and training datasets of color images. Preprocessing with wavelet based
enhancement are included in our system. Thresholding with masking and blob
detection are used to segment the required regions of the images in the image. To
determining the features is essential for accurate classification. For that
purpose, we have extracted features using convolutional neural network layer from
the segmented image and by analyzing the feature image, we have identified the affected
leaves using the convolutional neural network (CNN). In our study, it is
possible to diagnose leaf diseases in rice in a unique way in a very short
time. So, the farmers and the officials of the Department of Agriculture will
be able to eliminate rice diseases by using fertilizers or pesticides in this
system by checking the pictures of the diseases. As a result, we hope food
insecurity problem will decrease, and the economic structure of nation will be
strengthened.
