I
am Rabeya Sultana Leya, working as an Associate Professor at Khulna University,
a reputed public university of Bangladesh. I have completed my bachelor's and Master’s degree in
Urban and Rural Planning from Khulna University securing the 1st
position on the merit list and completed my second Master's in Water Resource
Development from the Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM), Bangladesh
University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). I have got the opportunity to
complete my M. Sc. under the SAWA (South Asian Water Association) fellowship
program of IDRC (International Development Research Centre). I have worked as a
research assistant in the gender module of the JICA-JST project, where the focus was to
explore gender vulnerability due to flood disasters. Presently, I have been
working as the Principal Investigator of a project funded by Khulna University
Research Cell (KURC), where the goal of this project is to investigate gender
vulnerability due to hydrological hazards (floods and cyclones) in coastal
areas of Bangladesh.
