On behalf of our faculty members and staffs, I welcome you to the Development Studies Discipline under the Social Science School of Khulna University.

As a center of excellence, Development Studies is dedicated to create and disseminate knowledge on different aspects of development through world-class teaching and multidisciplinary approach of research.

Our mission is to prepare the future leaders, researchers and policymakers to identify and solve complex socioeconomic problems that hinder the process of progress towards development in developing countries like Bangladesh. The key aim of the discipline is to embellish students with greater command over conducting research, designing programs and policies for development interventions aligned to national development aspirations of Bangladesh to attain the SDGs.

Currently, our discipline offers Bachelor of Social Science (Hons.) in Development Studies and Master of Development Studies (MDS) programs. At undergraduate level, students are equipped with foundation of key concepts and skills that are necessary to grasp the essence of cross-cutting notion of development whereas at graduate studies they are provided with more advanced technical and sophisticated knowledge needed to gain a particular career path in development organizations.

Our graduates are highly recruited with excellent placement by both national and international development organizations, research institutions, banking sectors, government agencies and private industries.
