Current Research
Polymers of Intrinsic Microporosity (PIMs), a class of porous materials characterized by their rigid, contorted molecular structures that prevent efficient packing. This leads to high internal surface areas and microporosity, making PIMs highly effective for applications such as membrane technology, catalysis, liquid phase separation, electrochemistry, gas storage, sensors, energy storage, and adsorbents for water treatment. Specifically, PIMs are regarded as one of the top-performing materials for gas separation, leading to several revisions of Robeson’s upper bound. We are particularly exploring the synthesis, functionalization, and performance evaluation of PIMs in environmental and industrial contexts.
