Sharmin Akter is currently serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, a role she has held since September 2023. She earned both her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering.

Her research interests span molecular biology, microbial biotechnology, and genetic engineering, with a particular focus on developing microbial consortia for environmental and industrial applications. She is especially interested in applying molecular tools and genetic techniques to address challenges in sustainable biotechnology and microbial diagnostics.

Sharmin is passionate about blending teaching with research, aiming to foster critical thinking and scientific curiosity among her students. Her long-term objective is to contribute to meaningful, application-oriented research in the fields of applied biotechnology and molecular genetics.
