The emergence of drug resistance in human and animal pathogenic
bacteria, as well as undesirable side effects of certain antibiotics, has
triggered immense interest for searching new antimicrobial alternatives of
plant origin. This study aimed to screen the antibacterial potential of crude
ethanolic leaf extracts of holy basil, neem, mexican marigold and bitter melon
on seven multidrug resistant pathogenic bacteria namely Aeromonas hydrophila,
Bacillus cereus, Comamonas aquatica, Enterobacter hormaechei, Klebsiella
pneumoniae, Shewanella seohaensis
and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia.
