Salinity causes an unfavorable environment for the crop production throughout the year in the coastal areas of Bangladesh. Various approaches were practiced to mitigate the problem of salinity but none of them seems to be very effective as the adverse effects of salinity on crop production are increasing day-by-day. Use of salt tolerant fungi as biofertilizer may be a possible solution to help plant in high salt concentration in the coastal areas of Bangladesh. This study dealt with the isolation of salt fungi from Sundarbans and subsequently, macroscopic and microscopic characterization of the isolated fungi and their comparison with the local fungi in saline condition.
